The U.S. Department of Labor is highlighting another series of convictions targeting fraud, labor trafficking, and human smuggling schemes that defrauded taxpayers and exploited vulnerable workers.
According to Labor Department Inspector General Anthony Esposito, multiple defendants have been sentenced in connection with a transnational labor trafficking operation that allegedly generated more than $200 million. Additional convictions involved COVID relief fraud and unemployment benefits theft.
