Should governments bear the cost of the popular and expensive weight loss drug Ozempic? One woman in Washington State is pursuing legal action to make it happen, citing the state’s recognition of obesity as a disability.

Currently, federal law prohibits Medicare from covering weight loss medications, but a study published in the New England journal of Medicine predicts that if 10% of obese Medicare beneficiaries were to access the drug, it could cost the government $27 billion a year. “The Hill’s” panel discusses the possibility of such a legislation.
