President Biden will deliver opening remarks Tuesday evening at this year’s White House Congressional picnic.
The tradition brings the members of the executive and legislative branches and their families together for an atmosphere of celebration across party lines.
This is the third time hosting the informal get-together on the South Lawn for the president and first lady Jill Biden. Although the event is annual in principle, politics and crisis have led to several cancelations during this administration and its predecessors, most recently due to COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021.
The president is slated to speak at 6:15 p.m. EDT.
