On 3 August 2014, Alex Ellis-Roswell set out from his hometown of Margate in Kent to walk 9500 miles around the British and Irish coastlines to pay tribute to his late father and raise money for the RNLI. He gave notice on his flat, sold his belongings, gave up his job and left everything behind.
Since then, he’s slept in church doorways, sheep sheds and bird hides. He’s been chased by bulls and met Princess Anne. He’s visited over 200 lifeboat stations – and raised more than £60,000 for the lifesaving charity.
Alex has been walking for three years but now has less than 400 miles to go before he gets back home. You can follow the final stages of Alex’s journey by visiting his Facebook page facebook.com/alexellisroswell or donate by visiting bt.com/DonateToLifeboats.
