The 2026 midterm elections produce historic results across the country as Democrats flip Senate seats in Michigan, South Carolina and Texas.
Abdul El-Sayed defeats Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan, becoming the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate. In South Carolina, Democrat Annie Andrews defeats Darline Graham. Meanwhile, James Talarico defeats Ken Paxton in Texas, winning a Senate seat for Democrats for the first time since 1988.
Texas also elects Democrat Gina Hinojosa as governor after she defeats incumbent Greg Abbott. Hinojosa will become the state’s first Latina governor and its first Democratic governor since Ann Richards left office in 1995.
