President Trump is calling for new leadership in Ukraine, arguing that President Volodymyr Zelensky has failed to reach an agreement to end the war with Russia. Trump also criticized Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, warning of potential consequences for global fuel prices.
Zelensky said he would be open to elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, adding that the Ukrainian people should ultimately decide their country’s leadership. The remarks highlight continuing disagreements over peace negotiations, wartime elections and the economic effects of the conflict.
