Twenty five years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, New York City has released roughly 170,000 pages of records detailing the city’s response and the aftermath of the attacks.
The initial release includes air-quality reports, contamination records, internal correspondence, the Harding Memo and documents from 68 boxes that were discovered in 2025.
The records provide additional insight into what city officials knew about conditions around Ground Zero, including concerns surrounding toxic air and health risks faced by first responders, workers and others in the area.
The release follows a legal battle with 9/11 Health Watch over access to the records. New York City says additional documents will be released over the next year.
