President Donald Trump announces historic declines in crime, highlighting what he says is the largest reduction in violent crime in American history.
Trump points to more than 3,100 fewer murders, 10,000 fewer rapes, and significant declines in robberies, assaults, burglaries and thefts. He also says preliminary 2026 figures show murders down another 23% and robberies down 20%.
The president credits federal law enforcement, saying the FBI has nearly doubled its arrests for violent crime and federal prosecutions have increased by more than 50%.
Trump also highlights an 80-year low in law enforcement deaths in the line of duty.
