The Fool on the Hill – Beatles Bass Cover – Paul McCartney's Bass Line

The bass line on “The Fool on the Hill” is very simple, sparse, and supportive. Its function in the recording is to reinforce and give a little extra weight (very little!) to the left hand of the piano, and therefore it is almost completely buried in the mix. But it makes sense for this song. They wanted the song to be light and airy without a heavy bottom end.

For these reasons, I’m honestly not 100% confident in my transcription. It’s just really difficult to hear the bass and separate it from the left hand of the piano. With the tools currently at my disposal, this transcription is my best attempt.
