Happening Now: Jack Smith Testifies Before House On Trump Investigations

Former special counsel Jack Smith will testify Thursday morning before the House Judiciary Committee about his investigations of President Trump during the Biden administration.

The public hearing comes after Smith sat for a more than seven-hour closed door deposition with the panel last month, where he asserted that even if presented with the same facts, he would still choose to bring charges against Trump.

The prosecutor oversaw two cases against the president — one focused on his efforts to block the transfer of power on Jan. 6, 2021, and the other addressing classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Following Trump’s election win in 2024, Smith dismissed the cases.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
