Inflation Cools — Will the Fed Cut Rates Next Week?

The Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation, the core PCE index, showed that inflation cooled slightly to 2.8% year-over-year in September, easing concerns about rising prices. Meanwhile, a separate report from the University of Michigan indicated that consumer sentiment improved in early December, beating expectations and signaling growing confidence among Americans. Despite these signals, Jeffrey Small, partner at Retirement Income Source, says he does not expect the Fed to cut rates next week, predicting that the Fed Chair will likely wait until January before taking further action.
